The world is waking up to the harsh realities of the dairy industry, and we are increasingly being exposed to its exploitative practices. But don’t we all love our creamy, milky Indian mithai!? I have worked hard to reinvent these classic recipes to make them cruelty-free and totally delicious. This festive season, or on any occasion, if you are looking to switch things up and try your hand at making VEGAN Indian sweets, this course is for you!
The recipes taught in this short course are beginner-friendly – don’t worry, you need not be a kitchen pro by any means to be able to participate and learn. The recipes are actually simpler than you would imagine.
Take note that while we have nothing against soy or gluten, the recipes in this course are entirely SOY-FREE and GLUTEN-FREE too.
What’s included:
The most exciting part is the base component you will learn – vegan “chhena” – which is really like a blank canvas. You can experiment with this in several creative ways.
Instructor
Hi there! I'm Samyukta Kartik, your instructor and mentor for this course. Having built valuable skills and knowledge in the world of plant-based cuisine over the years, I'm thrilled to be able to share it with you all!
The recipes taught in this course are beginner-friendly – don’t worry, you need not be a kitchen pro by any means to be able to participate and learn. The recipes are actually simpler than you would imagine. However, if you have never used basic kitchen appliances in your life, you’re likely to find this course challenging.
The pre-recorded video lessons are very detailed, and will guide you through each recipe step by step. As a beginner, there is so much to learn and you won’t believe how quickly you will become confident with recipes that might seem like they are “advanced” at first.
There are no prerequisites, however it is important that you are eager to learn, that you’re self-motivated, and genuinely want to take time out to cook for yourself and your loved ones. You will greatly benefit from this course if you take it seriously and practice! That’s only up to you 🙂
Your course begins as soon as you enroll. This is an entirely self-paced course, which means there are no specific dates for attendance. It’s flexible so that it suits your convenience and you can learn at any time.
Just take note that you’ll have access to your course dashboard (with the videos) for 4 months, after which it will expire. Needless to say, this provides ample time for you to thoroughly learn 4 recipes! But you do also get a downloadable PDF with all the recipes. This you get to keep forever, so you’ll never lose access to the recipes.
There is actually only a short list of ingredients required for this course; mostly nuts, and only a small quantity of them. I’ve also ensured all ingredients are easily available in most supermarkets.
If you reside in a country outside of India, the only ingredients you might have to do a bit of work to procure are Saffron and Cardamom. Two imporant ingredients. And if you can, try to get dessicated coconut and food-grade rosewater too. These are optional but recommended.
Do keep in mind that the recipes are mostly nut-based ( they are very small batch recipes so that they are affordable) so if you’d like to do some advance planning, identify a wholesaler near you where you can get cashews and almonds at the cheapest price available.
A thorough ingredient and equipment list will also be provided as soon as you enroll.
As far as equipment is concerned, ensure you have basic steel vessels, measuring cups, oven, and a mixie / blender.
In case of any doubts/questions/technical queries I can always be contacted via Instagram DM, Email, or Whatsapp. Always available and happy to help 🙂 I will provide my mobile number after you enroll.
For our longer courses, we have student groups on Whatsapp and Facebook. However since this is a short course (and a relatively “easier” course), we won’t be having a student group.
This short course is non-refundable.
